Accreditation at University of Mississippi Medical Center

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS COC) is the regional accrediting body for the University of Mississippi Medical Center. SACS COC accredits the entire campus, and this accreditation is required for all discipline-specific accreditations. Additionally, SACS COC accreditation is required for our institution to receive federally-funded grants and student aid.

The two main documents required for SACS COC accreditation are the Compliance Certificate and the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). The SACS principles addressed in the Compliance Certificate align with established business practices for improving organizations. The documentation that SACS requires is the documentation that an institution needs to provide a consistent framework for institutional operations.

The Compliance Certificate was formerly known as the self-study. It is the narrative and documentation that supports UMMC's assertion that the institution has met all the SACS Principles of Accreditation. The QEP is the Quality Enhancement Plan, a campus-wide project to improve student learning/learning environment.

The accreditation process is an opportunity for our campus to review our current practices and identify areas for improvement. It is also an opportunity for UMMC to showcase the exceptional students, faculty, staff and programs that are the heart of UMMC.

School specific accreditation information can be found at accreditation.umc.edu
